Host Your First Gig Game
This guide walks you through hosting your first Gig Game from start to finish.
You don't need technical experience, special equipment, or apps. If you can open a browser and show a screen, you can host a Gig Game.
Before You Start (Quick Checklist)
Make sure you have:
- A laptop, desktop, or tablet to host from
- A TV, projector, or large screen for the HUD
- An internet connection
- Players with smartphones
That's it.
Step 1 - Log Into the Gig Game Hub
Sign in to the Gig Game Hub.
This is where you:
- Choose which game to run
- Create or start an Event
- Open the Host Console and HUD
Think of the Hub as your starting dashboard for hosting.
Step 2 - Choose a Game to Host
From the Hub, browse the available games and select one.
Examples include:
- Bingo
- Music Bingo
- QR Bingo
- Trivia
Each game has its own rules and style, but the hosting flow is the same for all of them.
Click into the game you want to run.
Step 3 - Start an Event
When you're ready to host, start an Event.
You have two options:
Option A: Play Now (Instant Event)
- Starts immediately
- Minimal setup
- Ideal for walk-in crowds or casual play
Option B: Schedule an Event
Create the Event ahead of time
Set details like:
- Event title
- Location or notes
- Optional lead collection fields
Start the Event manually when you're ready
Once started, Gig Game creates a live Event session for that game.
Step 4 - Open the HUD on Your Shared Screen
Open the HUD on your TV, projector, or large display.
The HUD shows:
- The game's visuals
- Instructions for the room
- A QR code players use to join
This screen is what turns your game into a shared, social experience.
Step 5 - Players Join the Game
Ask players to:
- Scan the QR code shown on the HUD or
- Enter the join code (if displayed)
Players will join using their phone's browser - no apps or downloads required.
If enabled, players may be asked to enter:
- Name
- Phone number
- Other custom fields
Once they join, they're ready to play.
Step 6 - Open the Host Console and Run the Game
With the HUD open and players joining, open the Host Console.
From the Host Console, you control the experience:
- Start gameplay
- Advance rounds, calls, or prompts
- Control pacing and flow
- Monitor players and progress
The Host Console is only visible to you, not the players.
Step 7 - Keep the Energy Moving
As the host, your role is to:
- Keep things moving
- Explain what players should do next
- React to the room
- Make the experience fun and social
Gig Game handles the technology - you handle the vibe.
Step 8 - End the Event
When the game is finished:
- Close the Event from the Host Console
- This prevents new players from joining
- The session ends cleanly
If lead collection was enabled, your player data is now associated with that Event.
After the Event
After hosting, you can:
- Review participation (depending on the game)
- Use collected leads for follow-ups or promotions
- Run another Event with the same or a different game
- Reuse your audience for future events
That's It 🎉
You've successfully hosted a Gig Game.
Once you've done this once, hosting future games - even different game types - follows the exact same flow.
